Rae Ellen Bodie,
Rae Ellen has been acting and coaching professionally for over twenty years.
She received her MFA-Acting and a Diploma in Voice and Speech from York
University, has been a Voice and Acting instructor at York University and
the University of Calgary, was an Associate Instructor at the National
Voice Intensive, and has served as Voice/Acting Coach on numerous Calgary
and Toronto stage productions. Rae Ellen also works as a Dialogue/Acting Coach in film and TV, recently coaching series' leads Matt Long, Lorraine Bruce and Isiah Whitlock, Jr. on the ABC series
Lucky 7; Jay Ryan on Beauty and The Beast for CBS, and Megan Follows, Alan Van Sprang and Rossif Sutherland on
Reign, also for CBS. Other Dialogue Coach credits include: XIII: The Series for Showcase,
Transporter for HBO, and Frenemies for Disney. When not on-set or at the Lab, Rae Ellen is the Voice Mentor for the CFC’s Actor Conservatory and offers private voice/acting coaching in her home studio space.
Rae Ellen’s Toronto film and TV acting credits
include recurring roles on “Queer as Folk” and “This is Wonderland”, and
in the feature film Tkaronto. Selected stage credits includes the
critically acclaimed “Bluebeard” at the 2008 Fringe; The Old
Neighbourhood for East/West Theatre Company; “Lemon Water” for the
Summerworks Festival, and DWARF for Equity Showcase Theatre, under
the direction of David Rotenberg. A John Hirsch Director's Award nominee,
Rae Ellen’s directing credits include the Dora Award nominated production
of Jason Long's "Offensive Fouls" for Hustle n' Bustle Theatre Co. and
MTYP, Celia McBride's "Anatomy of a Broken Love Affair" for Vintage
Productions at Summerworks (Best Director - NOW Magazine), and Brad
Hampton’s The Picture Of Happiness which she co-created and
produced with Brad Hampton and Patti Loach.
Rae Ellen’s teaching is based in the Linklater
method of Voice training, her studies with her Master Teachers, and,
primarily, the trial-and-error of her acting, coaching and directing
